Jayden is up against CtheTree in a Lackey Grand Prix Match! He’s using a Musician offense and a Thieves defense. Tune in to see his thoughts about the deck and stick around after for some revisions

Lackey Grand Prix #14 is quickly coming to a close with all the games except the Finals having taken place. The last round of Swiss for the tournament was Round 5, where I got paired up against Chad “CtheTree” Frantz for a shot at making Top Cut, and to do so I decided to put together a deck that I’ve been wanting to build from some of the new Roots cards that caught my eye early on. For the offense I wanted to try out Musicians and some of the new (and reprinted) toys they got. Namely Chenaniah whose ability got toned down slightly but is still a pretty decent card, especially when you can make him CBN and band to Moses. On defense, the main card I wanted to use was Sapphira, who fits quite well alongside some Thieves, so hopefully the offense can put on a show while the defense steals one. The format for this week’s video is slightly different. There is an overview at the beginning and then gameplay as usual, but this time I’m coming back after the game for another brief overview of the revisions I’ve made to the deck since the game. Jayden started playing Redemption around 2004 when his brothers taught him to play and he attended his first National Tournament in 2005. Since then, he has become a competitive (mostly Type 2) player with a few National titles and, more importantly, has acquired many great friends and mentors through the game. However, in the years leading up to 2020, there has been a downward trend in attendance at some of the big tournaments, Nationals included. As a result, Jayden wanted to start doing something that would help pique and maintain interest in Redemption and he decided to do so in the form of a YouTube channel called Redemption with Jayden, which he started in June 2020 shortly after graduating college. He loves being able to share decks, games, and strategies, and hopes that the channel can be a useful resource for players at every level of the game.
