Join Jayden for the final round of the swiss portion of the Lackey Grand Prix where he utilizes a counter heavy “Isaiadab” deck to take on fierce competitor Seth and his Ruth deck.
We are now to the fourth and final round of the swiss portion of the Lackey Grand Prix online tournament. After this week, the top four players will be in a single elimination tournament to determine who the winner is. This week I got paired up with Seth (a.k.a. bingaling4243) who, up to this point, has gone 2-1 with 5 to 2 and 5 to 1 wins and a 3 to 5 loss to Josh (Kevinthedude) who currently sits comfortably in first place. Seth has been running a Ruth/Brown deck all tournament and after his loss last week he said he made a few tweaks and decided to give it another shot in our game. I decided it was time to revisit my “Isaiadab” deck but I switched up the defense to one I’ve been missing a little bit in Rotation. I really wanted to see if Babylonians could still hold their own because The Babylonian Merchants is still such a good card as long as you can meet the unity requirement. So I tried that out instead of Philistines and it wasn’t long before the deck turned into a very counter-heavy deck with Jonah, Jesse, Obed, and The Babylonian Merchants. I had some fun and a decent amount of success testing it out in a couple games before feeling ready to take on Seth and here’s where it ended up.

Jayden started playing Redemption around 2004 when his brothers taught him to play and he attended his first National Tournament in 2005. Since then, he has become a competitive (mostly Type 2) player with a few National titles and, more importantly, has acquired many great friends and mentors through the game. However, in the years leading up to 2020, there has been a downward trend in attendance at some of the big tournaments, Nationals included. As a result, Jayden wanted to start doing something that would help pique and maintain interest in Redemption and he decided to do so in the form of a YouTube channel called Redemption with Jayden, which he started in June 2020 shortly after graduating college. He loves being able to share decks, games, and strategies, and hopes that the channel can be a useful resource for players at every level of the game.
