Join Jayden for a hand control deck with new cards from Israel’s Rebellion he used in the Lackey Grand Prix.

This week on Redemption with Jayden brings us to round 2 of Lackey Grand Prix #12, in which I got paired against Tristan “BeardedGuy21”. For this week I ended up deciding to play a deck that I was pretty excited to build once I got my hands on the new Israel’s Rebellion cards even though it’s a deck that didn’t necessarily want to use very many of them. This week we’re revisiting hand control. Combo is probably my favorite archetype, but since Redemption isn’t really situated to have many balanced game-winning combos, I’m usually willing to settle for the runner-up, which is some sort of control. I really enjoy the process of getting as much information as possible and then finding the best line of play while limiting my opponent’s options, which makes hand control a great approach to take. It’s been a little harder to accomplish effectively in recent years, especially now that there’s a limit of one territory class Enhancement per turn, but I think a few of the cards in Israel’s Rebellion help a significant amount and I’m looking forward to seeing what else we get for it from the upcoming release of Roots. There are definitely a number of different ways to build hand control, but this is the most recent version I’ve been testing and it made for a great game against Tristan. Enjoy!

Jayden started playing Redemption around 2004 when his brothers taught him to play and he attended his first National Tournament in 2005. Since then, he has become a competitive (mostly Type 2) player with a few National titles and, more importantly, has acquired many great friends and mentors through the game.
