Redemption with Jayden- American Idol vs. The Voice

This week on Redemption with Jayden we’re taking a look at one of the two new tournament winner promo cards, so grab an instrument and get ready to sing a few songs cuz we’re taking a tryin’ out David’s Harp. Regardless of what the Harp itself does, it enables David, the Psalmist to play a Good Enhancement involving music pre-block, so I definitely wanted to capitalize on that, and fortunately Harp helps that out by tutoring said Good Enhancements. The one with the most impact seemed to be The Song of Moses, so I decided to build a deck based around pulling out 5 Heroes that can really hinder the opponent and slow them down and/or give me a benefit. Unfortunately The Song of Moses is symmetrical though so I decided to build the defense in such a way that we could punish the opponent in some way for having all those Heroes out or using something like Great Image to get rid of them for good. My opponent this week was Matthew Sinclair (a.k.a. ChristianGamer25), who played mostly Type 2 a number of years ago, took some time off, but returned last year just before Nationals and is getting back into the swing of things with Redemption. His old favorite, Iron Pan, is out of Rotation so he decided to try out the new NT Gold and Pharisee GoC themes and lean into playing an early Voice from Heaven after trying to reserve some key cards from your deck. It’s a fun deck that he’s been working on and I’m excited to see how it evolves throughout the tournament season.

Jayden started playing Redemption around 2004 when his brothers taught him to play and he attended his first National Tournament in 2005. Since then, he has become a competitive (mostly Type 2) player with a few National titles and, more importantly, has acquired many great friends and mentors through the game. However, in the years leading up to 2020, there has been a downward trend in attendance at some of the big tournaments, Nationals included. As a result, Jayden wanted to start doing something that would help pique and maintain interest in Redemption and he decided to do so in the form of a YouTube channel called Redemption with Jayden, which he started in June 2020 shortly after graduating college. He loves being able to share decks, games, and strategies, and hopes that the channel can be a useful resource for players at every level of the game.
