Join Jayden in Round 4 of Lackey Grand Prix #9 as he attempts to light a fire (sorry Daniel, bad choice of words) under a notoriously slow Daniel offense. Can Jayden successfully cook up (argh, my bad Daniel) a speedy Daniel deck? Or will Daniel get left in the dust (and ashes…)?

The Daniel offense has some very powerful attacks but it suffers from chronic speed issues, so it’s time to test whether or not the Nativity splash speed boost can help with that. I ended up with a fairly typical Daniel offense with some substitutions for the Nativity pieces in an overall near-balanced deck. The goal of the offense is to pop out the big band with the disruptors like Daniel, Michael, Servants by the River, Great White Throne, and The Cross to severely limit your opponent’s blocking options, and ideally this would be popped out fairly quickly. It’s pretty easy to get the ball rolling after pulling off Star of Bethlehem, especially if you get to go for it twice with The Coming Prince, but the tricky part then is actually getting all the pieces in place. This is a bit of a rough draft, but the gameplay here from Lackey Grand Prix #9 Round 4 against Jake certainly helped reveal some shortcomings that I’ll have to address in future iterations. Enjoy!

Jayden started playing Redemption around 2004 when his brothers taught him to play and he attended his first National Tournament in 2005. Since then, he has become a competitive (mostly Type 2) player with a few National titles and, more importantly, has acquired many great friends and mentors through the game. However, in the years leading up to 2020, there has been a downward trend in attendance at some of the big tournaments, Nationals included. As a result, Jayden wanted to start doing something that would help pique and maintain interest in Redemption and he decided to do so in the form of a YouTube channel called Redemption with Jayden, which he started in June 2020 shortly after graduating college.
