For Round 3 of Lackey Grand Prix 17, we’re capitalizing on a few new Prophets from Israel’s Inheritance that work quite well with a Soul-hide defensive strategy.

Because Prophets can help keep the Souls away by generating value through non-drawing methods, they make for a great pair with a Soul-hide defense. There are a few options out there when it comes to Soul-hide, including the brand new Moabites or the Swine Stampede/DoU style of defense I used in my “Hiding in Nazareth” deck, but for this build I decided to go with the tried and true Sadducees that gained popularity in combination with Flood decks in the past couple of years.

While Flood has sorta dropped off the competitive scene, Prophets seem to be a natural fit to fill that role with the new toys they’ve gotten. For this round, I got paired up with Joe “Joemama” Andrighetti, who played a d-heavy Joshua/territory-hate deck, which made for an interesting matchup that got even more interesting with some wacky draws, so enjoy the game!
