Lackey Grand Prix #16 has begun with two pods of 12 players each and after four rounds of Swiss, the top 2 players from each pod will meet in a four-player Top Cut to determine the winner of this LGP.

I was assigned to Pod 2 and my first round opponent was Dave “smittyseveneyes” Smith, who I played in LGP 15 and I wasn’t too disappointed to have an opportunity for revenge. Last time he was foolin’ around and took me down, so I knew I would need to have something solid, and where better to find a solid deck than the mind of Josh “Kevinthedude” Potratz.

I decided to run his “Nazareth Prison”-style deck, which seeks to establish a turn 1 Nazareth coupled with some parity-breaking draw acceleration. Below is the version that I used, which is modified slightly from the list he posted based on his recommendations.

Dave decided to switch it up a bit this time with a Nativity/Herods build that looks to accelerate early with The Resurrection and Star of Bethlehem, which can also set up some strong rescues with the protection from Flight into Egypt. Enjoy the game!

Jayden started playing Redemption around 2004 when his brothers taught him to play and he attended his first National Tournament in 2005. Since then, he has become a competitive (mostly Type 2) player with a few National titles and, more importantly, has acquired many great friends and mentors through the game.
