Thanks to Cactus Game Design and the Redemption Leadership Team, I’m delighted to announce that Redemption Nationals will be back in North Liberty, Iowa on July 28-30, 2022! Expect highly competitive rotation format games, eye popping promos, face to face meet ups with Redemption leaders and the game’s creator, plus classic side events and lucrative prizes!

Summary: Located about 4 miles from I-80 or I-380, the Grace Community Church building has a full size gym, a large kitchen, small shower facilities, and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy yourself for the weekend. During the daytime we are sharing some areas of the facility summer camps that use the church.

Overnight Accommodations

There are many hotels in the area that you’re welcome to explore. Grace Community Church is generously allowing people to spend the night at the church. There’s plenty of floor space if you bring a sleeping bag and a pillow. Unfortunately we cannot offer private rooms. Overnight guests at the church will need to clean up their sleeping gear each morning due to space we are sharing with the summer camps during the day. If you plan to stay at the church, please make sure you indicate that by pre-registering with us!

Travel Options

• The Eastern Iowa Airport is our closest hub. It’s located 20 minutes from the church. *Rides are available for people flying into this location.
• The Quad Cities Airport is located about an hour away from the church. *Rides are available on a limited basis from this location.
• The Des Moines Airport is located a couple hours from the church, however we do have players coming from the area. If coordinated well in advance a ride can be arranged.
• The closest Amtrack station is in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, about an hour away from the church. *Rides are available on a limited basis from this location.
• The closest Greyhound bus depot is about 20 minutes from the church. *Rides are available for people arriving at this location.

Meals

Lunch will be provided at the church on the days of the events for a reasonable cost. More specific information will be available on site. Snacks and beverages will be available to purchase on site also. A list and rough map of nearby places to eat will be available at the church as well.

Events Schedule (All events follow the rotation format)

Open Deck categories (Type-1, Type-2, Teams, Type-A): $10 each

Sealed Deck will use “Israel’s Deliverance” (K & L decks) plus 2 card boxes: $20*

Booster Draft will use 5 Gospel of Christ super packs (phase 1 & 2 combined): $30*

*You keep all cards in the Closed Deck categories.

Amazing Things Happening at Nationals 2022!

Now that we have those details out of the way, let’s talk about some of the exciting things happening at Nationals 2022! First off, each day at the completion of any of the 5 official main categories, each player will receive a participation promo – Nicodemus, the Seeker / Nicodemus, the Teacher!

The Gospel of Christ phase 2

The second half of GoC is set to release at Nationals! We now have these boxes in hand! We will be using these brand new cards for the booster draft event! Gospel of Christ phase 2 will feature angels, empty tomb Heroes, nativity Heroes, thieves, Herods and orange demons.

Cactus will also have GoC phase 2 available for sale at Nationals. They will not be available to the general public until a few weeks after Nationals. Be sure to get yours at Nationals!

Sealed Deck Featuring “Israel’s Deliverance”!

It was recently announced that the K&L Starter decks titled “Israel’s Deliverance” with have an exclusive test run printed for Nationals! Cactus Games has committed to using these for the sealed deck event and we have these decks in hand!

The version of Israel’s Deliverance used at Nationals will feature the logo of the hosting church where we normally see a set symbol on cards. They will also test out a new print format that eliminates the white border on the cards which is supposed to help with printing miss cuts we sometimes experience.

There is a good chance that some of the cards in the starter decks will change after Nationals making these decks a truly unique treasure. Cactus has also informed us that the decks will not be available again for at least a few months after Nationals.

***Update***

Exactly 100 copies of each deck have been printed for Nationals! Cactus Games will be selling decks not needed for the sealed deck event. Decks will cost $12.50 each or $25 for a pair. Due to the limited supply expect these to be limited to 1 pair per player.

Images of the cards are being slowly revealed by the leadership team. Since the decks are “mirrored” (identical in stats and abilities), the equivalent of one full deck will be revealed before Nationals so that players know what is in each deck. We have the privilege to share with you some of the key cards in the deck below!

Winners Create a Card!

The “create a card” prize is back this year in a big way! The winner of each of the 5 main categories will be able to create a Redemption card to be printed in the near future!

• The card must be a single brigade character or enhancement with one or two simple abilities.
• Winners will be made aware of the theme and/or scripture for the next set. If the card they create adheres to the theme/scripture it will be featured in that set. If it doesn’t we will guarantee that it sees print within the next 3 years.
• Teams winners will need to work together as a team to create 1 card.
• Players may only win 1 “create a card” prize. If a player wins more than one category the next eligible place will receive the prize. Redemption leadership is not eligible to win.

***Promo update!***

We’ve made some small updates to the way we’re doing promos. We felt it was important to get the scripture on the majority of our promo cards. Along with that change, there is also an indicator of the specific purpose of the promo in the bottom left where we’re used to seeing the set icon and rarity.

Side Events

All of that is really exciting! But the most exciting part might be the side events!!!

With the change in official formats this year, maybe you’re one of those players that misses using your classic cards. Maybe it’s for nostalgia reasons or maybe it’s because that’s the bulk of your collection. Whatever the reason, we have an amazing line up of side events scheduled for you! Plus, an exclusive side event promo that you can only obtain from winning one of these side events!

Players will be able to sign up for any of the side events listed below. There will be a $5 registration fee to enter each side event. As soon as any side event reaches 8 people it will begin. Events will use the minimum number of Swiss rounds required to determine a winner (3 for 2-player categories and 2 for multi-player categories). Each side event category can be run multiple times provided there are at least 8 players interested! Winners will receive the exclusive side event promo, but can only receive one promo from each category.

I know what you’re thinking… what is this exclusive side event promo you keep mentioning?! Once again, we need your help deciding! We have far too many really cool options of borderless, alternate art promos to choose from! The Redemption Elders narrowed it down to 3 cards and will let the community vote to select which one we use! So head back over to the Redemption Forums and cast your vote again, this time for either Foreign Wives, Jonah or Storehouse!

Contender Deck Iron Man!

Over the course of the tournament players will be given the option to participate in an “Iron Man” event using the contender deck of our choice from Your Turn Games! A list of the contender decks can be found here. Contender decks can be purchased from Your Turn Games or you can build your own provided you own all of the cards necessary to match the provided deck list completely. There is no limit to the number of decks you can use throughout the tournament. After any match you may check your opponent’s deck against the official Contender deck list.

Iron Man participants are given an allotment of approximately 10 unique matching tokens. At any points during the 3 day event you can challenge another participant to a game using your contender deck. The winner receives a token from the opponent. On the final day (time TBD) the participant who has accumulated the most tokens will be declared the winner!

The entry fee for this event is $10. Your Turn Games gift cards will be given to the top three places – $125 for 1st place, $75 for 2nd place and $50 for 3rd place!

Everyone who pre-registers by Friday, July 15th will receive a free entry into their first side event (excluding Iron Man) at Nationals! Additionally, your name will be entered into a drawing for a free box of Gospel of Christ phase 2 (sponsored by Covenant Games) when it is officially released! You must pre-register by July 15th and participate in at least one category at Nationals to be eligible to win.
