Name on Name Bonus
Name on Name Bonus has been removed from the REG and is no longer an optional rule in Redemption.
Protect/Immune
Protect and Immune are now the same special ability and have the exact same game effect and are treated as interchangeable. This means anything that targets a protect ability also works on an immune ability and vice versa. For example, Coliseum now also negates immune abilities in the field of battle. Because of this, abilities that are “regardless” of either immune or protect are now regardless of both inherently (Peter’s Sermon used by a lone Hero can now convert Emperor Nero).
In addition, protect has been changed to only affect special abilities. This means that “protected from <something>” now means “protected from <something> abilities”. Most affected by this are “protected from discard” effects which no longer protect from discard by game rule (including discard by being decreased to */0 or less toughness).
For more in-depth explanations of all changes in 4.0.0 you can click here to view the new Rules Announcements section of the message board. This section will be used going forward for any and all major announcements in regards to the rules of Redemption.

So with the way protect/immune work now you still can die by the numbers? Sorry if it’s an obvious question the explanation is hard to get my head around.
Gabe
If you are protected from discard you can still be discarded by the numbers at the end of battle. This is because protection from discard means protect from discard abilities, not game rules surrounding when to discard a card.
On the other hand, if your blocker is immune to (protected from) lone Heroes, it will not be discarded because that protection include the stats of the lone Hero.

Coliseum negating immune abilities is really cool!! So a protected Foreign Wives or Gideon will still survive if losing by the numbers?
Gabe
Correct

The only bad thing about that is my red dragon is negated by my own coliseum. 🙁

I am really thankful for the attention to detail and how considerate these rule changes are of the community. I am very thankful for minor but important rule changes that don’t flip the game but make it more intuitive for new players and veterans alike. Thank you!!
