Join CactusKnee for a new deck build called Rainy Days!
This deck takes advantage of Cloud Heroes and has a gray defense. Gray clouds: Rainy Days. This is a chunky deck and it just hangs around, like a rainy day would. Don’t let its bulk fool you into thinking it is too slow to get what you need though.
This deck also has a little of everything… “save it for a rainy day.”
The offense is centered heavily around a Moses that just won’t go away. The defense is a nice blend of mostly Moabites, Pharisees, and Syrians who like to hide Lost Souls and punish you for various things.
There are 3 ITB EEs and 4 ITB GEs in this deck. (Just like a rainy day would interrupt your summer plans).

OFFENSE:
Moses (CoW) is your battle winner by negating everything but cloud cards. There are 15 Cloud cards in this deck, so there is plenty to work with. Place Faith of Enoch on him, forcing your opponent to give you a rescue as the cost of getting rid of Moses. And even then, Faith of Sarah brings him back from the discard pile. And Cloud of Witnesses brings back Faith of Sarah from the discard pile, so you can get Moses again if he’s discarded again.
Mount Sinai, Freedom!, and Moses and the Elders are all more powerful if used by Moses, too.
Two quick rescues: The Buckler dominant tutors David: HAG, who tutors your Daniel reference Son of God. (Alternatively, use The Shunammite Woman to get to David, then SoG. Use Faith to get The Shunammite Woman or David as well.) The Letter to the Hebrews artifact tutors The Second Coming. I’m honestly really surprised that more people don’t use this. Use Crowd’s Choice to get either SoG or TSC as needed.
A nice mid-to-late game tactic is for Rahab (CoW) to play Hailstones and wipe out your opponent’s defense.
This offense has a good variety of draw, search, and look. This is helpful in case your opponent tries to shut one of those off, such as by using Blindness. If they do, you still have two more ways of getting cards quickly.
The Promo version of Storehouse allows you to put your O.T. Enhancements back into Reserve each discard phase. This is helpful because you can gather a lot in your hands quickly, and it would be a shame to have to discard them.
Moses or David should be your first card out. After that, you’ll want to lay down your territory protectors, namely: Samuel, Moses’ Parents, Melchizedek, and most of the time, Joseph (CoW). Before putting Joseph down, make sure your opponent isn’t running a Sons of Jacob deck. If they are, just leave him in Reserve.
There are 11 ways to get to Moses out early: Moses himself. The Angel of the Winds to Moses. David to Moses. Buckler to David to Moses. The Shunammite Woman to David to Moses. Faith of Sarah to Moses. Faith to Moses. Crowd’s Choice to Moses. Letter to the Hebrews to The Angel of the Winds to Moses. Letter to the Hebrews to Faith to Moses. Letter to the Hebrews to Faith of Sarah to Moses.
Samuel and Rahab have site access.
Defending against soul drought: Melchizedek can generate a soul each turn as long as a cloud Hero attacks. Enoch can be rescued as a Lost Soul by Son of God if your opponent has no souls out. (Land of Redemption disclaimer: this doesn’t actually work because Son of God will negate the special ability of Enoch) Faith of Enoch rescues whoever it is placed on if your opponent discards them.
Faith of Rahab can take out an evil fortress. This is nice because Satan’s Seat can disrupt a lot of this deck’s protection. Taking that out will help.
Cloud of Witnesses takes out a TC Enhancement or a demon. Hidden Treasures chips away at your opponent’s deck. Shipwreck gets rid of any fortress.
DEFENSE:
The defense consists of Moabites, Pharisees, a couple Syrians, and some others.
Captain of the Chariots can take Gold Shield from Reserve. Discarding the Gold Shield changes their Hero to a brigade of your choice, making most of their held Enhancements useless.
Use King Rezin to get Damascus out of your Reserve. Not only does this get you Saul, but Damascus can also hold Overtaken (gray curse) when it comes out.
Overtaken can be used most effectively as an artifact, making you Evil Characters CBN if your opponent has a CBN Hero in battle. Or you can use it as an EE in a pinch to underdeck their CBN card.
Use Night Raid with either Captain of the Chariots or King Rezin to capture 3 of their Heroes.
Use Emperor Caius Caligula to block when Saul is also in play to get rid of your opponent’s Three Woes. Moses will almost certainly be its target. I personally would hold on to Crowd’s Choice to fish Caligula out as early as possible. Alternately, your own Three Woes can negate your opponent’s Three Woes.
Saul of Tarsus grabs Unsuccessful from Reserve for the well-known Saul-to-Unsuccessful combo for a quick chump block. If your opponent attacks with a single-brigade Hero, Callous Conspirators (CC) is a quick chump block also. The Brood of Vipers is nice for eating away the opponent’s territory and then swapping for another Pharisee; mostly CC if Saul/Unsuccessful has already been used.
If Saul is discarded before you can use his ability, Profane Daughters can also grab Unsuccessful from Reserve. It’s not as full proof, but worth a shot.
Both Emim and Men of Moab hide O.T. lost souls. Just a Hireling hides all your Lost Souls by discarding one of your 3 Pharisees. Burial also gets rid of them all. Withered Seed will hide one. Distort the Truth protects meek Lost Souls from rescue. Sheol hides them if your opponent searches.
Moabite Messenger could bounce 2 O.T. Heroes. I’m looking at your meekified David and their attacking Hero. If the opponent doesn’t let you bounce, they are punished.
The Afflicted punishes the opponent for bringing out more than one new Hero per turn.
UTILITY:
There are four artifacts in this deck, and three of them can be active at a time.
Damascus holds the gray curse: Overtaken.
High Places holds Household Idols. If King Rezin or Profane Daughters blocks, you can swap your 2 meek Lost Soul for two of your opponent’s Lost Souls that have abilities. Alternatively, you can get rid of their covenant.
Letter to the Hebrews can be used once for TSC and then deactivated to give Hidden Treasure the opportunity to chip away at your opponent’s deck. Although, there are 11 Hebrews cards in the deck, so if you need to grab The Angel of the Winds to get to Moses, or Faith of Sarah to get him back from discard, turn Letter back on.
Cloud of Witnesses keeps your GE coming back. Like a rainy day, it just never ends. The clouds are ever present.
Mount Sinai is great with Moses. You need something in your hands quick? Look in your deck. Not needing anything urgently? Reserve something from theirs.
This deck in not without its weaknesses. For example, with as little as four specific cards in hand, an opponent’s Matthew could draw 14 cards. That said, I beat a deck with Matthew with my Rainy Days deck. My opponent drew 11 cards at one point. But with no souls to save because they were underdecked, my opponent then discarded a fair bit of that hand.
I hope this deck goes to show that rainy days aren’t always a bad thing. Thanks for reading, and enjoy!
