Last weekend was the second annual Thomas Jay Chambers Memorial Tournament hosted by Jay Chambers out in Litchfield, Michigan.
Last year, after the premature birth and passing of his son (Thomas), Jay decided to host a tournament in his memory and it was great to see how the community was able to come around him and his wife during such a difficult time.
This year, as we gathered to honor his memory through fellowship once again, we also remember Thomas’ brother, Isaac Jay Chambers, who was lost to the couple just two months ahead of this second memorial tournament.
After being uncertain about my ability to attend for the week leading up to it, I’m glad that I was able to make it. The fun, fellowship, and competition made it feel like a mini-Nats, and I’m very appreciative to Jay and all the others who helped make the tournament possible, including but not limited to Kris Hill, Covenant Games, and Your Turn Games, who provided generous prize support and Kris in particular helped as well by assuming many of the hosting duties so Jay could play.
Big thanks to South Litchfield Baptist Church for providing the facilities and of course the church member who graciously picked up and delivered the pizza we ate for lunch. The deck lists for all the decks in Type 1 2-player have been compiled and provided for our viewing pleasure here on Land of Redemption’s Deck Database, so join me in this video as I talk about the tournament overall, the decks that were played, and the particular deck that I used.
