We are approaching the completion of Prophecies of Christ phase 2 previews! Today, Gabe shares new cards from a theme which continues to be expanded in recent sets.

Reflections

How many of you are familiar with those silly Israelites who wandered in the desert for 40 years after God rescued them from slavery in Egypt? Do you remember why they wandered in the desert? They didn’t trust God. Instead they complained and even stated that they had it better when they were slaves in Egypt! I sure am glad you and I aren’t like those silly Israelites… or are we?

If you’ve accepted Jesus’ sacrifice as payment for your sins and made him King of your life, then you too have been rescued from slavery! But just because we’re free doesn’t mean there aren’t times in our lives where we’re tempted to give into sin still. Maybe you’re tempted to cheat on a test. Or maybe it’s cutting corners at work. Maybe you’re tempted to steal that little thing that really “doesn’t matter” so nobody will miss it.

When temptation comes your way, 1 Cor. 10:13 tells us that God will provide the way of escape. Jesus is that way, if we choose to look to Him. I have to ask myself daily, “Do you really want to go back to Egypt?”

The Cards

Unlike that type of going back to Egypt, today we’re going to take a trip back in time to the days of when the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt to catch a glimpse of some of the final previews for PoC phase 2.

We saw Joseph, the Dreamer in phase 1 because his life foreshadowed things that were fulfilled by Christ. Joseph was in a dark place, literally a prison, falsely accused after being sold into slavery by his family. Despite everything in his life seemingly going wrong, he was faithful and patient for God to work. And sure enough He did!

Pharaoh summoned all of his wise men and magicians to interpret his dream, but none of them could. It wasn’t until Joseph was brought before him that God revealed the meaning. Joseph was then put in charge, second to only Pharaoh!

These Egyptians worked under Joseph’s command. They ensured the Storehouses were full and that the resources were spread appropriately throughout Egypt when the Seven Years of Famine came.

The last Egyptian card featured comes much later in the story, after Moses and Aaron confronted Pharaoh 10 times, which resulted in 10 plagues. In the end Pharaoh released the slaves, but immediately had a change of heart and pursued them.

Speaking of those 10 plagues, you might have noticed in the past two sets that we’re slowly releasing new versions of the plagues and other cards for the Exodus theme. If you decide to play an offense based on the Exodus theme, this will probably make a good addition!

This Exodus themed card offers two powerful abilities! It gives 2 free cards if you have an Exodus Hero in play, and it functions as a pseudo battle extender by keeping an Exodus Hero alive.

On a side note, a Passover Seder is rich with Messianic symbolism! If you’ve never done one with family or friends, this Easter season is the perfect time to give it a try!

The last preview is probably the biggest addition to the Exodus offense. Early in the game it offers a powerful, one-sided, battle sweeping ability. But in the late game it offers a flat out rescue ability! As a “star” card there are plenty of ways to get it back too! I don’t know of any deck that can get its opponent to 10 or less cards quicker than a dedicated Exodus/Egyptian deck.

If you haven’t given an Exodus offense a try, there’s never been a better time! Since we’re slowly building out this theme, you’ll find that you might still want to supplement it with a few non-Exodus related cards. But it has some pretty unique abilities that you might find fun and exciting! Feel free to share your thoughts for future Exodus related cards in the comments below.
