Paul Arrested and Taken to Rome: Part 1 (**spoilers**)

This week I will be going over Paul’s last trip to Jerusalem, his arrest, trials and appeal to Caesar.  Each day a new part of the story will be covered, and a new card related to that part will be revealed.

Our story starts with Paul traveling on his way to Jerusalem to deliver a collection that had been gathered up to help the poor in Jerusalem, designed to aid them in the famine predicted by Agabus back in Acts 11.  Paul also mentions this collection in both his letters to the Corinthians, urging them to contribute to it.

On his way to Jerusalem he would stop at the house of Philip the Evangelist in Caesarea, who we last saw converting the Ethiopian treasurer, and he had four daughters who were prophetesses.  Agabus came down to to Caesarea and would prophesy about what was waiting for Paul in Jerusalem.

This brings us to today’s card, Paul’s Belt:

Pauls_Belt

Much like Ezekiel used and Iron Pan, and Jeremiah used a wooden yoke as physical symbols for their prophesies, Agabus would use Paul’s own belt.  Agabus took Paul’s belt, and tied his hands a feet, saying that in the same why he had tied himself, so would Paul be bound in Jerusalem.  And Paul would indeed be bound with two chains in Jerusalem.  Paul’s companions on hearing this prophecy begged him not to go to Jerusalem. But Paul was not easily dissuaded, and told his companions that he would die for the Lord if need be, imprisonment was nothing to him.

For Redemption we represent this prophesy with this dual alignment Enhancement, green because it represents Agabus’ prophecy and warning to Paul, and gray because the Romans would take him prisoner in Jerusalem.  Paul’s belt is a strong gray battle winner, especially on The Roman Jailer, but it also serves as a soul generation pre battle if you need it to be as a territory class Enhancement, at the cost of one of your Heroes.

That wraps us up for today.  Check back tomorrow as Paul will go up to Jerusalem, where the Jews will riot and he will be arrested.

Love it. Nothing particularly flashy, just a lot of solid uses. King Rehoboam just got that much stronger, too.

Never mind, that’s a shame. Still an ok card.
