AB RoJ Unboxing

Whether you didn’t get to open any AB RoJ of your own or just want to relive the fun, we’ve got an unboxing video to share with you. Don’t miss the big reveal at the end!

Final Previews of Special RoJ

Sorry, folks, I’m running a little behind on getting the previews up for you this week. Last minute details and questions for Nationals have to take precedence. Nationals is less than a week away!!! Can you feel the excitement in the air? I sure can!

Cutting Room Floor – RoJ: part 2

Last week in part 1 I focused mainly on cards that didn’t see print for one reason or another. But it’s not just cards that get cut. Sometimes the card still sees print but certain aspects of the card don’t make the final version. We strive to have the coolest looking art we can on the cards but that isn’t always easy. With a limited art budget to work with we need to be creative to keep things looking great. As a result one of the most common aspects of a card to hit the cutting room floor is the illustration.

Cutting Room Floor – RoJ: part 1

Lately there’s been a lot of focus on big tournaments, top decks and awesome new combos from Revelation of John. All the excitement is with good cause, but today I’d like to take a step back to something a little more relaxed. Over the course of play testing cards change, then change again… and again. I’m going to share with you some things that might have been if changes hadn’t taken place.

Tackling Type 2 Diversity Pt. 2

Last Article Justin and I discussed Creation of the World Genesis. This idea has been around for a while so for this week I thought we could discuss a new deck theme from Revelations of John—Martyrs.

The Road to Nationals!

Are you ready for the tournament season? Seen anything you like in Revelation of John?

The meta is certainly sizzling with options and variety as Revelation of John has delivered many great offensive and defensive compliments with all seven of The Bowls of Wrath cards and versatile Seals.

More Fun at Nationals 2017!

Each year the Redemption National tournament is an amazing time! For starters you get to play LOTS of Redemption with a larger variety of people that you can experience anywhere else. You get to meet new people who share your passion for the game. If you’ve attended Redemption tournaments in the past you’ll most like get reacquainted with old friends. That alone is more than enough reason for you to join us in Iowa this August! But just in case you wanted more…

Lots of News and RoJ Booster Fun!

Even though there hasn’t been a lot going on here on Land of Redemption this past week there’s a lot going on in the Redemption community! Most people have Revelation of John in hand now. State and Regional tournaments are just around the corner. There’s a lot of excitement and buzz about all the possibilities the new cards present.

Today I want to share with you a few minor updates that happened to the REG last week and tell you about an all Revelation of John booster draft our group did.

I am…You are…We are… NOT ALONE

“What’s your favorite card?” is a question often asked amongst fellow Redemption players. For some, it’s the card they use most often in their decks. For others, it’s a card from their favorite Bible story or a card that has their favorite verse as the reference. Still yet others might have a favorite card based on the card’s ability or artwork.

The End of Soul Drought

If you could make one card, how would you go about selecting which card to create? For an avid card creator like myself, it was not an easy process. Following Nationals, I had a fairly good idea of what I wanted to make. However, there was a slight problem. As it was, the first card I proposed was very similar to a card already on the list. Presented with the option of going forward with mine (and bumping the other off) or creating a different concept, I chose the latter.

The Final Countdown! (Part 2)

Hey guys, I’m back with part 2 of The Final Countdown! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Part 1 of this article before you read this one. In today’s article, we’re going to look at some cards that underwent some changes after they had been previewed. These changes were based on community feedback from the previews, further playtester discussions and additional playtesting that occurred after the cards were initially shown to the community.

It’s the Final Countdown! (Part 1)

Revelation of John is on its way to print, woohoo!!! First of all we want to thank everyone who helped us shape this set. The community played a significant role in making this set as good as it could possibly be, but more about that later…

YOU are The Special

You are the most talented, most interesting, and most extraordinary….wait, sorry, wrong topic.

The LEGO Movie jokes aside, today I have the distinct honor of showing off the cards designed by the 3 lucky winners from Nats 2016. Oh, and the remaining 2 ultra rare cards as well!

Worthy is the Lamb

Revelation chapter 5 portrays an amazing scene in Heaven. It begins with a book which no one in heaven or on earth is worthy to open. Then one steps forward who is worthy – the only one who is worthy. He is the Lamb who was slain, the Lion of Judah, the root of David, our Messiah, Jesus Christ. He steps forward and all Heaven breaks out in worship! Have you had a moment where you’re worshiping with a crowd of people, maybe at a concert, at church, at a conference or a camp and it’s so amazing it gives you goose bumps? Multiply that exponentially and you might be getting close to what’s taking place in Revelation 5! Then, an amazing series of events unfolds…

Demonic Hordes

Here come the Demons – Part 2 of Tuesday’s Double Feature is here! We’re going to dive right in with the cards for you guys!

Why so Sad?

Why so Sad? So far we haven’t seen much diversity from the evil cards – Lot’s of orange, some Kings and Merchants but that’s about it. Don’t worry, I’ve got the fix for you today. For years we’ve had jokes about black being weak. I think we may finally put those to bed for good this year!

Party Job

Job is a baller Hero and THE Regional promo this year. If you aren’t as excited as I am to play Job then you don’t know PARTY JOB!!

We know Job was a wealthy guy! He was living the dream and more! He had it all, but one day he lost everything! Wow!

Here Come the Jesus Freaks

In 1995, the Christian music group dcTalk put out a song title “Jesus Freaks” that described those who had been persecuted for their faith in Jesus. Several years later, a book was published by the same name and it told the stories of Christians worldwide who had been persecuted, and many times killed, for their faith. It is not an easy read, but it certainly helps put things in perspective. Too often, as Christians living in a country with freedom of religion, we can get caught up in things like denominational differences when around the world our brothers and sisters in Christ are risking their very lives to share the good news. If you have the chance, I highly recommend the book.

Today I’m going to preview some new cards that represent the “Jesus Freaks” of Redemption—martyrs.

The “Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony” (or for short, The Heavenly Temple!)

For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” – Hebrews 8:4-5

Hebrews 8:5 explains that the earthly tabernacle (of Moses and David) and temples (Solomon’s, Zerubbabel’s, and Herod’s) were representations of an ultimate place in Heaven which is called the “temple of the tabernacle of the testimony” in Revelation 15:5. This is the place of God’s throne, where the triune Lord dwells in fullness and rules all of creation. This is the place of the fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11). Many wonderful details of this most glorious place are placed throughout the Bible, and it is an exciting and worthwhile journey to seek and find them. I recommend starting with Isaiah 6, Daniel 7, Ezekiel 1 & 10, and Revelation 4!

6 X 6 = 21?

We all know that the title is incorrect – 6 X 6 = 36 – But what if you had a bad teacher? And they were leading others astray? What if you genuinely believed that 6 sets of 6 was only 21 because that’s all that you were taught? Today’s set of cards focuses on false teachings.

The Big DAD(dy) and Two Siblings

I’m really excited to share with you some cards that I fully expect to change the way people approach the game. Not only will these cards change the game, but one of them is certain to be one of the “chase” cards in RoJ. Will it rival Shipwreck or The Second Coming? Keep reading and decide for yourself.

Flash back to summer 2016 on my drive to Minnesota States. Cloud of Witnesses has hit the Redemption scene with huge success. The content source of our next set is already decided – the five books John wrote with a primary focus on Revelation. I’m challenged with the daunting task of repeating the success of Cloud of Witnesses in a fresh new way for the following year and brainstorming ideas of how to make that happen. That’s when it hits me…

Reservation for 10

Hey guys, it’s been awhile, but I’m back on Land of Redemption with a podcast that previews 10 cards from the upcoming Revelation of John set!

On a few cards I’ll share some background from their development and on some others I’ll share some tips and tricks I used in play testing. Hope you enjoy!

Two Kingdoms…Two Cities…Two Devoted Followers

The Book of Revelation is the last Book of the Bible. It is the fullness, the completion of God’s grand plan of creation and salvation first begun in Genesis. In Revelation, the primary names given to God’s people are “saints” (holy/set-apart ones) and “The Bride” (lovers). Why? Because God created human beings to live in a holy, devoted, eternal love relationship with Himself. This reality is beautifully expressed by God equating the capital city of Heaven, the New Jerusalem, with the Bride herself – for God’s heart and plans for Heaven and His Bride are inseparable.

Take it Outside

“Take your roughhousing outside” Did you ever hear that phrase when you were younger? If you have siblings like I do I’m sure you’re familiar with it. Last year in Redemption we had two pretty big siblings in Throne decks and BoM (Because of Moses) decks. They got a little rough with each other – So Mom (Us Playtesters) is kicking them outside this year.

Learning From Our Peers – With a Side of Bacon

In this session of Learning From Our Peers we’re going to examine a game zone that’s available to other strategy card games but hasn’t been feasible for Redemption – the sideboard.

“A sideboard or side deck is a set of cards in a collectible card game that are separate from a player’s primary deck. It is used to customize a strategy against an opponent by enabling a player to change the composition of the playing deck.”

Games that use the sideboard tend to play a match, allowing players to modify their deck after the first game. Throughout the years there have been many discussions on the message boards about how we could implement a sideboard into Redemption. It’s a difficult thing to do without playing a match so none of the ideas were ever agreed upon.
