The Hall of Faith: Part 1 (**SPOILERS**)

As noted in Gabe’s first article introducing the Cloud of Witnesses set, we drew very heavily from Hebrews in this set.  One of the most inspirational passages in the Bible can be found in this epistle, in what we could call the Hall of Faith of Hebrews 11.  The NIV calls this section “Faith in Action,” and the NASB (which we now use on Redemption cards) calls it “The Triumphs of Faith.”  All of these titles are very apt, as the entire section shows the power of faith, and the central role it plays in the lives of those who have it.

Esau, the Hunter (**SPOILERS**)

After we had first gone over the first set list for Cloud of Witnesses, my brother and I were in the car headed somewhere I can’t remember, discussing the set and trying to think if there were any major thematic cards that weren’t currently in the list.  We realized that one Hero, Jacob, did not have any opposing evil characters in the set, and the most obvious antagonist for him would be Esau.  And so, we decided to try to take a crack at thinking of a good ability to propose an Esau for the set list.

The “Christian-Likeness” of Abraham

Abram/Abraham, renamed by God from the former to the latter name, was born about 4000 years ago – about 400-500 years after The Flood. Even though God had started the world’s civilization anew with the righteous family of Noah, in just a few hundred years darkness was again spreading over the earth. The rebellion at Babel displayed the Bad Intentions of humanity to worship themselves instead of the One True God, and The Lord responded by causing Confused Languages amongst the people so that they would be frustrated in this evil desire and spread out to fill the Earth, as He had commanded.
