Paul Arrested and Taken to Rome: Part 6 (**spoilers**)

Welcome back for the finale time, as we conclude the story of Paul’s arrest and transfer to Rome.  As I mentioned last time, the ship ran aground on Malta.  The islanders welcomed the soldiers, sailors and prisoners, and Paul, being helpful gathered some wood for the fire.  While he did this, a viper came out and bit him.

The islanders believed Paul must have been a murderer, because he had not been spared from their “goddess” Justice even though he had escaped a watery death at sea.  But Paul just shook the snake into the fire and didn’t suffer any ill effects. Seeing this, the islanders changed their tune, and thought that he must be a “god.”

This brings us to our card preview today, The Maltese Viper.

The Maltese Viper card, like the one from the story, jumps out, surprises and “bites” a Hero, represented in Redemption by paralyzing and poisoning a Hero in territory if he blocks from hand.

Paul from here went and healed the father of Publius, the chief official on the island, and healed the sick on the island.  And so the islanders were grateful and supplied the travelers with the supplies they needed.

Finally from here Paul would sail out on another Alexandrian Ship, arrived at Rhegium and made their way up to Rome.  In Rome Paul would spend the rest of his days in house arrest, but this would not be the end of his witnessing.  He welcomed all who came to visit him, and wrote letters out to the churches he had planted, such as his letter to the Philippians.

And so ends the final earthly journey of Paul, and the end of this series of previews.  I hope you took something out of this, as I certainly had fun writing it, and I hope you all look forward to the new set.

It’s ironic that this card is the preview when just yesterday I was looking at the warriors version and thinking it should be reprinted. No word on what the next preview theme will be.
